Established in 1960, the Association is a professional organization, which has effectively served the education and training needs of the working population in Hong Kong for 50 years. With a membership close to 12,000 executives, the Association organizes more than 2,000 programmes for approximately 48,000 participants annually.
Mainstream education does not provide recognition for prior learning nor pathways for those who had left school for several years but have considerable practical experience and professional attainment in their own right. The Association has achieved considerable market recognition by fully acknowledging and recognizing such prior learning. Over the years, we have been offering certificate, diploma and degree programmes as an alternative route for working executives, who can comfortably study higher level programmes in their area of specialization without having to go through junior level qualifications.
The HKMA web site is a one-stop shop for all its services, including education and training. It offers online:
access to comprehensive course information, together with search functions to assist you in finding your interest areas;
an advancement path indicating how you can progress to higher levels of qualifications, from diploma to first degree, and from master degree to doctorate programmes;
an efficient and secure enrolment and payment system on the web;
a free subscription to the Internet edition of our journal The Hongkong Manager;
information on the Association`s business awards, specialist clubs and community services;
links to the web sites of the Association`s affiliated organizations and its two secondary schools; and
virtual management resources in the form of links to relevant information and service providers.
To provide more effective communication channels for participants and lecturers, the HKMA web site will be launching an e-learning platform. The platform will not only offer online courses, but also support programme administration, that is, uploading and downloading of course materials, collection of soft-copy assignments, assessment of participants` progress with tests and exercises, and announcement of results online.
